My professional mission is to work – through invention, discovery, and collaboration – towards goals that are so critical to the future of healthcare. My main goals are specifically to 1) increase the quality of customized cancer treatment, 2) enhance the professional lives of clinicians through useful and intuitive tools, 3) give patients access to their data and to personalized educational tools, 4) ensure safety, and 5) decrease the high costs of healthcare.
My name is Benjamin E. Nelms. I am an inventor, scientist, and entrepreneur with a main focus in the radiation therapy industry but with widening interests and projects. My design company, Canis Lupus LLC, was founded in 2005. Canis Lupus has brought many successful products to market across multiple vendors and has consulted on experimental design and scientific endeavors for many clinical and academic institutions. Prior to Canis Lupus, I worked eight years in the treatment planning industry, starting as a medical physicist and ending in executive management. Before that, I received my Ph.D. in Medical Physics from the University of Wisconsin in 1997 and graduated summa cum laude in Physics from the University of Missouri in 1992..
